Evicted!
We recently had to evict our upstairs neighbor for making too much noise, tearing up some insolation and starting to become a threat to chew up our house.
This little guy and his friend were trapped up in the attic when Tammy and I sealed off the loovers at the ends of our house with some new wire mesh screen. We did the end that they were getting into a few weeks ago, but then they would just walk across the roof to the other side to get in.
Last Saturday I sealed that one off and then trapped them inside. We fed and watered them for a few days so we didn't have a dead neighbor until we could find a trap to catch them.
The animal control folks brought out a trap and within a few hours after dark on the first night we caught the first on. We thought we only had one, till the noise continued.
At 12:30am I took this one about 2 miles down the road and let him out and re-set the trap to get the next one. However, it out-smarted the trap (and I guess me) by stealing the can with the bait without tripping the trap.
At 2:00am, I added a full can of Tuna in the trap. When I checked it at 6am, it was gone too. Now we have a fat and happy neighbor.
Sometime during the day or early in the morning this one had the strength to chew through some wood and pry some boards to free himself.
Now is the time that I think, "Where is that deposit money? - we had two free-loaders that tore a whole in our house and who is going to pay for that?"

Hi Slade. We had the same problem when I was in high school. We had just moved to a new house and had a raccoon who decided to call someplace around the house home. I'm sure he was damaging the house, so my dad got a trap from animal control. Well, the clever little guy managed to steal the bait two nights in a row without getting caught! So the third night, my dad somehow rigged the trap so our doorbell would ring when the raccoon went inside. We sat up until midnight in the darkened breakfast room, waiting for the doorbell to ring and finally, when it did, my dad ran outside and slammed the door down. Boy, that was one angry raccoon! Hope you caught your second one.
